Tryon International Equestrian Center Announces 2018 Competition

Mill Spring, NC – February 19, 2018 –  Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) announced its 2018 competition schedule today featuring 13 FEI jumping weeks, plus one CDI dressage and one eventing competition in its 40-week schedule spanning multiple disciplines. TIEC hosted five series of competition in 2017, which welcomed more than 2,300 riders from 45 states and 31 countries to the venue, and 2018 is poised to deliver an even more robust equestrian calendar for competitors in a variety of disciplines.

 TIEC is expanding its footprint in 2018 to host competitions in all eight FEI disciplines including jumping, dressage and para-dressage, eventing, reining, driving, vaulting and endurance. For the second time, the venue will host The Fork at TIEC, a 3* eventing competition featuring a CIC 3*/2*/1* presented by Lucky Clays, and the 72^nd annual Tryon Block House Races, as well as the U.S. Pony Club Championships East. New to the competition calendar is the 28^th annual Carolina Classic at TIEC, the facility’s inaugural reining event. Multi-discipline events and specialty horse shows are also scheduled throughout the year.

 Tryon Welcome Series

The 2018 show schedule begins with the Tryon Welcome Series on March 23 with Tryon Welcome 1 and features hunter/jumper competition at the B and AA-rated classes for hunters and Level 3-4 for jumping. The schedule also includes The Fork at TIEC featuring a CIC 3*/2*/1* presented by Lucky Clays on April 4-8.

 The 72^nd annual Tryon Block House Races, the longest running steeplechase in North Carolina, returns for its second year as part of the TIEC family of competitions on Saturday, April 14. Tryon Spring dressage (FEI CDI 3*/FEI CPEDI 3* and National Show) occurs April 19-22 while the Tryon Welcome Series is set to conclude with Tryon Welcome 4 on April 27-29 (B-rated/Level 3).

Tryon Spring Series

The Tryon Spring Series features five weeks of FEI show jumping with a heavy focus on hunter/jumper competition at the FEI CSI 2*, 3* and 4* levels, including A and AA-rated hunter competitions and Level 4-6 Jumper competitions. Early in the Tryon Spring Series is the Carolina Classic at TIEC, hosted from May 10-13, which will be the first reining event to ever be held at TIEC. Tryon Spring 6, featuring the 90^th installment of the Tryon Riding & Hunt Club Charity Horse Show (TRHC), will showcase CSI 4* AA-rated hunter competition alongside Level 6 jumper opportunities from June 6-10 to conclude the 2018 Tryon Spring Series.

Tryon Summer Series

The Tryon Summer Series, with four weeks of FEI show jumping on June 14-July 29, will feature FEI CSI 2* and CSI 3* competition, including both B and AA-rated hunter classes alongside USEF Level 3-6 jumper competition. Tryon Summer Dressage will take place from June 15-17, hosting national levels of competition for the second time during the calendar year. The Tryon Summer Series will conclude with a return of the United States Pony Club Championships East on July 26-29 for the second time in venue history.

Tryon Fall Series

The Tryon Fall Series also includes another four weeks of FEI show jumping. The series begins September 26 with five weeks of AA-rated hunter competition and USEF Level 6 jumper opportunities, which will also feature FEI CSI 2* and CSI 3* competitions, and TIEC’s highlight FEI CSI 5* competition during Tryon Fall 4 on October 17-21. The 2018 Tryon Fall Series will conclude on Sunday, October 28.

Tryon Fall Festival Series

The Tryon Fall Festival Series will span November 1 through November 17 and see the return of the Young Horse Finals at TIEC, the TIEC Field Hunter Championships as part of the Festival of the Hunt, and hunter/jumper competition.

A variety of onsite lodging is available for competitors and spectators. Choose from a three or five-bedroom cabin on the river, a one-bedroom “tiny house” cabin, or a room at the Stable House Inn. RV pads with full hookups are also available for rent. Onsite restaurants are open year-round serving farm-to-table cuisine, sushi, casual favorites, and Sunday brunch.
