Young Riders Academy, fifth year celebration

Holstein, November 5, 2018 – From today until Wednesday November 7th, at the Fritz Tiedemann Halle, in Elmshorn, thirty-two riders will gather to celebrate. “ We take the opportunity of this celebration to announce a great new partnership between Athenaeum – with YRA project – and the Windrush Equestrian Foundation with their Young Eventers Program” stated Eleonora Ottaviani as President of Athenaeum. “ this new eventing project will give three riders the opportunity during the year to be mentored by legend Pippa Funnell; while the Education program will be organized together with YRA jumping team” added Ottaviani. “ First selection took already place in UK few weeks ago, where Pippa Funnel, William Funnel and Gill Watson carefully followed the group of candidates and identified as this first year squad: Alex Kennedy (GB), Susie Berry (IRL), Mary Edmundson (GB)” concluded Athenaeum President.

The young Riders Academy is a program conceived for European talented young show jumpers, under the patronage of the European Equestrian Federation (EEF), with the cooperation of the International Jumping Riders Club (IJRC) and the support of Rolex.

Founded in 2014 by Athenaeum, a non-profit association, the program will give talented riders between the ages of 18 and 23 the chance to get six months of training and boarding at a well-known professional stable. On top of that, professional education in communication, business and economics, veterinary and legal practice related to show jumping. The objective is to develop future champions as well as potential managers of this sport.
