Bologna, 11 dicembre 2019 – Gli sport equestri sono fatti di cavalli del cuore, campioni che ti entrano nel cuore perché sono protagonisti di imprese, di storie avvincenti, vincitori morali dei “combattimenti” sul campo. Balagur, trottatore Orlov, é uno di questi. E’ morto il 10 dicembre presso le scuderie di Monica Theodorescu in Germania ma le sue imprese saranno sempre ricordate e continueranno a fare “letteratura” per gli sport equestri.
E’ stato protagonista indiscusso del dressage mondiale del dressage degli anni 2002 – 2009. Un Davide sotto la sella Alexandra Korelova (RUS) contro i Golia Salinero e Anky van Grusnven (NED), Sunrise e Imke Schellekens-Bartels (NED), Elvis e Nadine Capellmann (GER), Whisper e Monica Theodorescu (GER), Satchmo e Isabell Werth (GER) e Ravel (Steffen Peters), giusto per citarne qualcuno.
Un talento scoperto per caso…
Balagur, esemplare nato nell’anno 1990, era destinato alle corse di trotto ma é stato arruolato per la Polizia russa di Nizhny Novgorod. Il suo lavoro era pattugliare le strade, i cambi di guardia e i caroselli di rappresentanza. Questo é il dettaglio che ha colpito il cuore tutti gli appassionati di sport equestri quando é stato presentato dall’amazzone russa Alexandra Korelova ai World Equestrian Games di Jerez de la Frontera (ESP) nel 2002. Balagur, un cavallo grigio di modeste dimensioni da una genealogia insolita per il dressage (genitori emeriti sconosciuti rispetto alle linee di sangue di Hannover, Kwpn, DwB, Oldenburg, ecc…) ha colto nel segno con i suoi movimenti e il suo piaffer. Il talento tecnico di Balagur é stato riconosciuto da Elena Petushkova, amazzone dell’Unione Sovietica campionessa Olimpica di dressage a Monaco 1972, argento nel 1968 a Citta’ del Messico e nel 1972 a Monaco, con svariate medaglie a livello europeo dal 1967 al 1985. Fu così che Anatoliy Balykin deciso di acquistarlo per farlo presentare da Alexandra Korelova in rettangolo. Il binomio si é poi trasferito in Germania da George Theodorescu, trainer illustre del dressage mondiale, così comincio la straordinaria carriera agonistica del binomio.

Il duo Korelova/Balagur ha rappresentato la Russia ai Giochi Olimpici di Atene del 2004 – 23 posto in classifica – e di Pechino del 2008 – ottavo posto in classifica -, Weg di Jerez del 2002, Weg di Aachen del 2006, Campionati Europei de La Mandria del 2007 e di Windsor del 2009, oltre che in svariati internazionali ambiziosi.

Dopo il ritiro dalle gare, Balagur ha continuato la sua vita da “pensionato” V.I.P nella struttura di Monica Theodorescu. I suoi giorni erano divisi fra paddock e passeggiate, superviosionato da Monica e dal suo staff, era un cavallo che faceva parte della famiglia…

However he didn't reveal big talents and didn't stay at the hippodrome for long. At the age of three he got to the mounted police and had a remarkable working experience of seven years. Aleksandra Korelova used to say that the policemen hadn't liked to take the horse to patrol the streets of the city, because he had been performing piaffe there. It was a matter of fact that at the age of 6-7 years an old circus actor taught Balagur to perform passage and piaffe on long reins: that was in winter when police horses didn't go to the city and worked indoors. There are no ifs in history, but if it wasn't for Yelena Vladimirovna Petushkova whose eyes Balagur has caught once, he would have been keeping serving in the mounted police. When Balagur was ten his life changed. Anatoly Balykin bought Balagur out from the police and sent Aleksandra Korelova both with the horse to German specialist George Teodorescu. Since that moment a progressive ascension of the Russian pair to the top of the world equestrian began. Their official international competition debut took place in 2002 at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez with a modest 27th place in personal rate. In 2007 the pair won the Grand Prix Freestyle in Braunschweig and Hagen and took the 2nd place in Schtuttgart. In 2008, the Olympic year, Aleksandra and Balagur took the 5th place in Grand Prix Freestyle in the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen.In both Europe and Russia Balagur had a real fan-club of his own. What adjectives invented the media for him! But the most often "the white Russian swan" was used. Having retired, Balagur lived in Teodorescu's stable but also continued to work under saddle a little.
